Itinerary

This 7-day adventure takes you through some of Tanzania’s most renowned wildlife parks. From the elephant-filled Tarangire National Park to the vast plains of the Serengeti, the lush landscapes of Lake Manyara, the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, and the cultural richness of Lake Eyasi, this itinerary offers a diverse blend of wildlife and cultural experiences.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (or Arusha Airport), you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to your accommodation for the night at Heart and Soul Hotel. This comfortable hotel provides a relaxed atmosphere with modern amenities, such as spacious rooms with ensuite bathrooms, hot showers, and a restaurant serving delicious Tanzanian and international cuisine. After checking in, you will have a light lunch at the hotel before enjoying your first dinner in Tanzania. Rest well to prepare for the exciting days ahead.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a morning drive to Tarangire National Park, located about 2-3 hours from Arusha. Tarangire, established in 1970 and covering 2,850 square kilometers, is known for its massive herds of elephants, particularly in the dry season. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which attracts animals during the dry months. It is also home to diverse wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeests, and predators such as lions and leopards. Tarangire is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with over 500 species of birds, including the yellow-collared lovebird and African grey hornbill.

Upon arrival at the park, you will enjoy a game drive in the morning, followed by lunch at a picnic site in the park at 13:00. After lunch, continue your exploration of the park, observing the vast herds of elephants and other wildlife. In the evening, you will exit the park and head to Omega View Hotel for dinner and overnight. The hotel is well-equipped, offering modern facilities, ensuite rooms, and a beautiful setting overlooking the surrounding landscapes.

After an early breakfast, you will head to Lake Manyara National Park, which is about a 1.5-hour drive from Omega View. Lake Manyara covers 330 square kilometers, with the lake itself covering about 200 square kilometers during the wet season. The park is famous for its diverse ecosystems, which include lush forests, open woodlands, and the alkaline lake itself. Established in 1960, it is home to a variety of wildlife, including tree-climbing lions, which are rare and can sometimes be seen lounging in the branches of acacia trees. You will also encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and a variety of bird species like the flamingo, yellow-billed stork, and battalion weaver.

After a full morning of game viewing, you will enjoy lunch at a picnic site within the park. Following lunch, you will continue exploring the park’s diverse habitats, including the Maji Moto hot springs and manyara escarpment. In the late afternoon, you will head back to Omega View Hotel for dinner and overnight, relaxing after another exciting day of safari.

Following breakfast at Omega View Hotel, you will drive to the famous Serengeti National Park, located about 4-5 hours from Lake Manyara. The Serengeti, one of the most iconic national parks in the world, covers a vast area of 14,750 square kilometers and was established in 1951. The Serengeti is home to the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move in search of fresh grazing. You will also find the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos), as well as cheetahs, hyenas, and hundreds of bird species.

Upon arrival in the Serengeti, you will enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot in the park at 13:00, before embarking on an afternoon game drive. The Serengeti's endless plains provide the perfect backdrop for wildlife watching, with predators often in pursuit of the abundant herbivores. After a rewarding day, you will head to Serenity Lodge (or similar) for dinner and overnight. The lodge offers comfortable accommodations with ensuite rooms, a restaurant, and beautiful views over the Serengeti’s plains.

On Day 5, after an early breakfast at Serenity Lodge, you will depart for Ngorongoro Crater, about a 3-hour drive from the Serengeti. The Ngorongoro Crater, which was formed by a volcanic eruption millions of years ago, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. The crater spans about 260 square kilometers, with an altitude of around 1,800 meters above sea level, providing an incredible environment for wildlife. The crater is home to over 25,000 animals, including large populations of lions, buffaloes, zebras, gazelles, and the endangered black rhino. Over 500 bird species also call the crater home, including flamingos, storks, and vultures.

You will descend into the crater for a game drive, which will allow you to see a variety of wildlife in a relatively small area. After your morning game drive, you will enjoy lunch at a picnic site at 13:00. After lunch, you will continue to explore the crater floor, capturing incredible moments before heading to Omega View Hotel for your overnight stay and dinner.

After breakfast at Omega View Hotel, you will depart for Lake Eyasi, located about 3-4 hours from Ngorongoro. Lake Eyasi is a soda lake situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley and is surrounded by the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes, who live a traditional lifestyle. The area is known for its striking landscapes and its role as a cultural hub for the Hadzabe, who are one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in Tanzania. You will enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake, with the opportunity to see the local people and their way of life, including their hunting techniques.

In the afternoon, you will have the chance to visit a Hadzabe village and possibly observe the tribe’s hunting skills using bows and arrows, as well as their unique lifestyle. You will also visit the Datoga tribe, known for their blacksmithing skills. After a culturally enriching day, you will return to Omega View Hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at Omega View Hotel, depending on your flight schedule, you can either head to the airport for your return flight or enjoy an optional short excursion before your departure. These options include a coffee tour in the nearby highlands, where you will learn about Tanzania’s coffee production process, or a visit to a Maasai boma, where you can interact with the Maasai people and learn about their traditions and customs.

If your flight is later in the day, you can return to the airport after the excursion.
