Itinerary

This detailed itinerary covers wildlife safaris, cultural experiences, and beach relaxation in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar. You'll explore iconic national parks, witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, and unwind on Zanzibar’s pristine beaches.

Morning: The adventure begins with a pick-up from Nairobi at 07:00, followed by a scenic 5-6 hour road trip to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for breathtaking panoramic views and perhaps a quick visit to a local market for souvenirs.

Afternoon: Upon arrival at the Masai Mara (around 13:00), you’ll check in at your 3-star lodge or tented camp and enjoy a delicious lunch at 13:00. After a short relaxation period, you’ll have afternoon tea or coffee before heading out for your first game drive at 16:00.

The evening game drive (16:00 - 18:30) is the perfect introduction to the Mara’s wildlife. Your expert guide will take you through prime game-viewing areas, where you may spot lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and if lucky, leopards or cheetahs. The Mara is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 450 species, including the lilac-breasted roller, African fish eagle, and secretary bird.

Evening: After the game drive, you’ll return to the lodge for a candlelit dinner at 19:00, followed by optional campfire stories and a chance to interact with Maasai warriors about their culture and traditions.

Morning: An early sunrise game drive (06:30 - 09:00) offers the best opportunity to see predators in action, as lions and leopards are most active at dawn. You’ll enjoy a bush breakfast surrounded by the wild sounds of the savannah.

Midday: If visiting between July and October, you’ll head to the Mara River to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras brave crocodile-infested waters in a dramatic crossing. A picnic lunch will be served at 13:00 near the river.

Afternoon: After lunch, the game drive continues through Leopard Gorge, Rhino Ridge, and Musiara Swamp, where you may encounter hippos, crocodiles, and rare bird species. The drive lasts until 17:00, after which you’ll return to the lodge.

Evening: Back at the lodge, you’ll have time for a refreshing shower before a sunset cocktail session and a candlelit dinner under the stars.

Morning: After an early breakfast (07:00), you’ll embark on a final short game drive en route to the Sirari border, crossing into Tanzania after immigration formalities.

Afternoon: Upon arrival in Northern Serengeti (Kogatende), you’ll check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch at 13:00. At 16:00, you’ll set out for an evening game drive, exploring the remote wilderness of the Serengeti’s northern sector, known for its big cat sightings and wildebeest migration herds.

Overnight: Punda Maria / Heritage Tented Lodge

These two days are dedicated to deep exploration of the Northern Serengeti, particularly around the Mara River (July-Oct), where the Great Migration reaches its peak. You’ll witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the river, with lions, crocodiles, and hyenas waiting in ambush.

Game drives are scheduled for early morning (06:30 - 12:00) and afternoon (16:00 - 18:30), with lunch served at the lodge at 13:00. The Northern Serengeti is also home to rare bird species, including African fish eagles, martial eagles, and vultures.

Overnight: Yellow Babet Lodge

Today, you’ll explore the Central or Eastern Serengeti, famous for its vast grasslands and high concentration of wildlife. The Kopjes (rock formations) are excellent spots for leopard sightings, while the plains are filled with wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles.
After lunch at 13:00, you’ll embark on an afternoon game drive (16:00 - 18:00), returning to the lodge by 18:30.

Overnight: Omega View / Martina Retreat

Morning: After an early breakfast (06:30), you’ll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth. The crater floor is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rare black rhino), as well as flamingos at Lake Magadi.

Midday: A picnic lunch will be served at 13:00 near a scenic viewpoint inside the crater.

Afternoon: The game drive continues until 17:00, after which you’ll ascend the crater and return to your lodge.

Overnight: Martina Retreat

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at Mizingani Sea Front / Mahali Paje and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the beach.

Optional: Dinner at The Rock Restaurant, a famous seafood spot perched on a rock in the ocean.

Morning: A guided Stone Town tour takes you through narrow alleys, historic buildings, and bustling markets. Highlights include Freddie Mercury’s House, the Old Fort, and the Slave Market.
