Description

Starting at the Isebania border, the journey moves through the remote northern Serengeti, rich with open savannahs and riverine forests, then into the central and eastern regions, where the ecosystem transitions from vast plains to rocky kopjes. Each area presents unique wildlife encounters, from large predators to massive herbivore herds, and the climate varies from semi-arid to cool highlands.

Itinerary

This 7-day safari from Isebania to Namanga takes you through the diverse landscapes and ecosystems of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, offering an immersive wildlife experience. The adventure concludes in Ngorongoro Crater, home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, before heading to Namanga via Arusha, where a final meal is enjoyed at Fifi’s Restaurant.

Upon arrival at the Isebania border, you are greeted by your guide and transferred to Ikoma, a region situated just outside the Serengeti National Park. This area, known for its open woodlands and scattered acacia trees, provides excellent opportunities for spotting nocturnal wildlife. Depending on the arrival time, lunch is provided en route before heading to Yellow Babet Ikoma for dinner and an overnight stay. The surrounding Ikoma area offers a quieter safari experience compared to the main Serengeti, with a mix of plains, woodlands, and seasonal water sources that attract herbivores and their predators.

The second-third day of the journey takes you deep into the northern Serengeti, specifically Kogatende. This region is characterized by rolling savannahs, scattered granite outcrops, and the meandering Mara River, which serves as a crucial water source for wildlife. While famous for river crossings during the migration season, the area is equally rewarding year-round, with resident wildlife including crocodiles, hippos, lions, leopards, elephants, and various antelope species. A picnic lunch is served at 13:00 at a scenic site before returning to Yellow Babet Ikoma for dinner and an overnight stay. The climate here is typically warm during the day and cooler at night due to the river’s proximity.

On the Forth day, the journey transitions southward from Ikoma to Seronera, the heart of the Serengeti. Seronera is known for its diverse habitats, including vast grasslands, acacia-dotted savannahs, and the Seronera River, which sustains an abundance of wildlife. This area has a dense population of predators, particularly lions and leopards, which thrive due to the high concentration of herbivores. Lunch is served at a picnic site, allowing time to enjoy the scenery before proceeding to Serenity Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. The climate in Seronera is moderate, with warm days and cool nights, making it a prime location for game drives throughout the year.

On the Fifth day, the safari moves toward the eastern Serengeti, a lesser-explored but stunningly unique part of the park. This region is defined by vast, open plains, rocky kopjes, and pockets of woodlands, offering an ideal habitat for cheetahs, hyenas, and various herbivores. Unlike the more crowded areas of the Serengeti, the eastern region provides an exclusive wildlife experience with excellent opportunities to observe the interactions between predators and prey. Lunch is once again enjoyed at a scenic picnic site before returning to Serenity Lodge for dinner and another night in the wilderness. The climate here is semi-arid, with hotter temperatures during the day but pleasant, cool nights.

The Sixth day marks the transition from the Serengeti to the renowned Ngorongoro Crater. After an early morning game drive, the journey continues toward the crater, with a stop for a picnic lunch at 13:00 along the way. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the crater itself is an ancient volcanic caldera with a unique ecosystem that supports an incredible variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, lions, hippos, and the critically endangered black rhino. The crater’s vegetation includes open grasslands, fever tree forests, and seasonal wetlands, creating a landscape that is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Dinner and overnight accommodation are at Martina Retreat, nestled in the lush highlands of Ngorongoro, where the cool mountain air contrasts with the warmer plains of the Serengeti.

On the Seven day, the safari departs for Namanga, with a stop in Arusha for a farewell lunch at Fifi’s Restaurant. This marks the conclusion of an unforgettable journey through Tanzania’s most famous wildlife destinations, providing memories of diverse landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and the beauty of East Africa’s natural heritage.
